On 8.8.2022, we made the following observations from Blüemlisalp glacier, Fründenhorn and Bütlasse, among others.:

This glacier tongue is strongly flattened and already has holes. It is a matter of time before the tongue retreats into the flatter part of the glacier.

Ice break-off from the western tongue of the Blüemli Glacier. Photo from 8.8.2022.
The summer of 2022 with its three heat waves led not only to a marked glacier melt, but also to various glacier terminations. Bit by bit, the glaciers are becoming smaller.
Summit flank Fründenhorn. Photo from 8.8.2022.
The firn on the summit flank has melted further since 2021. What remains are three smaller firn fields, which may disappear completely by the end of summer/autumn 2022.
