Ice-blocked lake
Ice-blocked lake is formed when water is dammed by a glacier and the lake is next to the glacier. The water of the lake flows through the meltwater system of the glacier or along the edge of the glacier.
During the ice ages, large ice-blocked lake were also formed in the Swiss Mitteland. For example, water from the Rhone glacier was dammed during one of the ice ages in the Burgdorf area. The lake reached a considerable size and its discharge shaped the landscape in such a way that it is still visible today.
