Medial moraine

A medial moraine occurs when two glaciers converge to form an ice stream. On both glaciers fall from the flanks debris and boulders. This rock, which lies at the edge of the glacier, is transported towards the valley by the flowing ice. At the confluence of the two glaciers, this rock forms the medial moraine, which is transported further down the valley.
