This panorama photo shows the Oberaar glacier in its whole length from east southeast. On the south side there might be a lot of ice under the scree. In the area in front of the collapsed glacier gate (as of July 2018), these ice masses should flow slowly downwards due to a lack of counterpressure. This is probably also the reason why the glacier gate collapsed within a few weeks. In front of the prominent snow field to the right of the glacier tongue, the cone of the debris flow can be seen, which descended from the northern lateral moraine between 2017 and 2018.
