The interactive panorama photo shows the dead ice mass in front of the Tiefengletscher from the air. Legend:
1) Since 2019, the tunnel between the 2019 glacier gate and the southern collapse structure has collapsed.
2) Since the former glacier tongue lost contact with the glacier in September 2017, the gap has become significantly larger.
3) This boulder slid further up onto the glacier and was transported towards the valley by the flowing movement of the ice. According to the same principle, the boulders were transported from the Alps to the Central Plateau during the ice ages.
4) How this hill on the glacier ice has arisen, we can not yet say exactly. Also, we do not know yet if the hill inside is made of ice or if it is 100% rubble.
