Meltwater flow at the Unteraar glacier (aerial photograph).
Photo time: 25.09.2018
Description:
In autumn 2018 most of the meltwater on the southern side flowed out of the glacier. An actual glacier gate has not (yet) formed.
To the left of the outflow of the meltwater/glacial stream are inclined ice walls (dead ice, ev. ice cliffs), which have changed considerably since summer 2018.
At the right edge of the panorama photo the remains of the large ice block (dead-ice) can be seen, which lost contact with the melting glacier in summer 2017.
It is easy to see how far the glacier has retreated in this short time.
