Glacial striae at Fiescher glacier (aerial photo).
Photo time: 05.09.2018
Description:
This panorama photo was taken near the castle hut. Also on this panorama photo you can see the impressive glacier polished rock walls with the clear glacial striae. Towards the glacier tongue you can see the iron pins and the ladder on the left side of the glacier polished rock walls, over which you can descend to the glacier forefield. The path carved into the rock (probably with an inlaid water pipe for the castle hut) is marked for the first time on the national maps of 1977. The glacier reached the level of the path in places. The Burghütte was first found on the national maps in 1980. An impressive depris cone can be seen on the right in the direction of the glacier tongue. Due to the lack of counterpressure of the glacier ice, the tensions in the rock increased until the rock loosened and fell into the depth.
