On the day of the photo, the flow rate was impressive. On the aerial photograph you can see how the water searches its way in advance. At lower flow rates (e.g. in the morning or at lower temperatures) the water only flows through the main branches. When the flow rate increases (e.g. in the afternoon or at rising temperatures), part of the water also flows through the finer side arms and thus reaches the plants.
